Icy Veins

This guy makes me think we should do a bit of pre-planning! There are two orbs to send two people to "the Trials" at a time. So we'll make one "DPS Queue" and one "Tank/Healer Queue." Looks like we want to have everyone under 75 Corruption when the boss hits 50%, but we'll see if that stays for Live.

DPS can actually speed up their Trial by doing more DPS! Tanks and healers don't seem able to speed it up at all, they're just stuck for a set amount of time. So we definitely need to get Tanks and Healers running through these right away. Also, each time a DPS goes in, that will spawn an extra add that we need to deal with. So if we need to send a tank or healer in a second time, that's fine. Tanks and healers should be soaking the puddles because we will want all the DPS to be at 0 Corruption for max DPS during the burn phase.

So for the Tank/Healer orb, I'm thinking we should go Healer/Tank/Healer/Tank/Healer. Each person should absorb a pool just before they go in so that extra 25 Corruption gets wiped out. Depending on how fast DPS is, we might even start with a Tank and a Healer going in and delay the DPS for a round.

We'll see Thursday! :D

Strats

I've heard some further feedback along these lines:

Orb 1: DPS-DPS-DPS-DPS

Orb 2: Tank-Tank-DPS-Tank

Yeah, not even sending the healers down at all. Sounds like it hasn't been hard to heal and this gets all the DPS clean faster. That last Tank is to wipe out the extra puddles that had been picked back up.

PURGE

Definitely more to deal with than the previous two bosses. We didn't have a lot of attempts, but I picked up some stuff.

First. DO NOT GET HIT WITH THE BEAM OF DEATH. Clear enough? :) I know a couple Beam deaths were due to the crappy visual lag Kulgarr and Bluepea were experiencing, but several deaths were NOT due to that! Don't get hit! This beam is SUPER easy to avoid. It's very obvious and moves very slowly and it WILL KILL YOU. Don't get hit with it.

Second, when the big adds die, they leave a "Residual Corruption" orb. That needs to be picked up by a tank or healer FAST. They deal a LOT of AoE damage. I'm using a LOT OF CAPS because this stuff is key to the fight. Much of the fail on orbs was just newness to the fight, late at night and probably bad organization/explanation. That last one is on me. :) Still, I post strats for a reason! We'll set up a proper absorb rotation, but please be fast about it. Getting those gone saves a TON of damage.

So, purification order? Not at all to my surprise, there are a lot of suggestions out there. After seeing the fight, I'd like to have at least one healer purified to increase healing potential. (Though doing the fight right will help our healers out!) The enrage is at 7 minutes. Each purification wave takes 60s, maybe less for DPS and healers. Probably always 60s for tanks. Thus math says we should be able to do 4 waves in 4 minutes. That should get all DPS purified with 3 minutes left to kill the boss. So new plan: (whee)

Wave 1: DPS + Healer
Wave 2: DPS + Healer/Tank (leaning healer)
Wave 3: DPS + Tank
Wave 4: DPS + DPS

Yes, this moves the double DPS to the final wave, but I think that will work a bit better. There will be 5 big adds to kill before 50% and 5 to kill after 50% so that's 10 orbs to soak. Spitballing:

0:00 - Start Fight, Healer 1 goes to Trial
1:00 - Add dies, Healer 2 soaks, goes to Trial
2:00 - Add dies, Tank 1 soaks, goes to Trial
(Two DPS clean, two Healers clean, one tank clean)
3:00 - Add dies, Tank 2 soaks, stays, two DPS go to Trial
4:00 - TWO adds die, Tank 1 soaks both, Trials done
(Five DPS clean, two Healers clean, one tank 100%, one tank 50%)
BURN PHASE - 5 adds spawn
Clean Healers each soak two. Tank 1 soaks one.
Fight ends with 5 Clean DPS, Tanks at 75-100, Healers at 50-75.

Should work out, but lots to remember. We'll do it Monday! Feel free to offer suggestions, of course! :D

Purification

One thing to note that if a healer goes to trial there are 2 prefered classes for this Priest and Monk due to being able to double dip from the buff thru Atonement and Eminence.

Follow Up

For our kill we went with this:

DPS/DPS
Healer/DPS
Healer/DPS
Tank/DPS

It worked out very well! Boss down with 40s to spare on the enrage! We will likely use the same strat going forward.

More sources of Corruption. Tanks and healers need to jump on orbs RIGHT AWAY, they keep stacking corruption. Tanks and healers will likely be cycling into orbs through most of the fight to keep clearing corruption.
Tight enrage timer.
Kill small adds fast, don't let them cast their damage buff on the boss.
If DPS gets up to 100% corruption, they still do 100% damage on adds and can focus on those until they get a chance to dip into an orb.

5% last week with a PuG tank!

5% last week with a PuG tank!

I bet we could two heal this if necessary.

Healing

I think two healing would be tight if we send healers down. One healing a large add can be pretty fatal. Though I'm totally willing to give it a shot. Hell, I can almost pew pew. (pew pew!)

Could probably 2 heal if

Could probably 2 heal if healers didn't go down, with both tanks and maybe DPS picking up the slack on orbs.

We can likely pick up the 5% DPS without changing too much though.

Options

If we 2-heal, we'll definitely keep both up top the whole time. We'd need to do 3 tank Trials. That's a lot easier when both tanks are capable of surviving it! Just a tank that can do the Trial and do good DPS will get us very close.

Well this went pretty well

Well this went pretty well with tanks that know what they're doing downstairs. I pushed hard on Disc DPS, breaking 100k on my meters for the first time, and could have gone harder except for overestimating mana consumption and burning a potion on that instead of DPS. We had 18 seconds to spare on the enrage timer, I think we got lucky on a few of the death beams and didn't have to move as much.
