Arcinia | Feral Druid

Hi folks! I was the glowy cat in your Uldir raid last night - I had a good time, so I figured I'd apply!

Tell us tell us a little about yourself.

I'm a programmer who left the game industry to spend half of his time bouncing between Texas and California, which is to say I'm a guy who makes poor life decisions. I'm also basically a crazy cat lady. When not spending time with my cats or WoW you'll find me playing games of both the tabletop and video variety.

Note that my work travel is decently heavy - there shouldn't be any need for me to regularly miss raids, I've got a gaming laptop, but I'm sure I'd be missing a few raids here and there because of travel and life. Hopefully that's okay!

Also worth noting that I'm buddies with Grelt, another recent applicant. He's like me, but good.

Tell us about your WoW experience.

I currently main a feral druid because of my aforementioned inclination towards making poor life choices. My account dates back to vanilla but I only started raided in Wrath, I peaked at leading a 25 man through roughly half of ICC25 Heroic. I've played off and on since then, picking up some raid time in Cata and MoP. I never met a hard mode I couldn't leave half cleared as a raid team implodes for reasons that were... probably not related to me. I've played a hunter and a blood DK the most historically, but I caught the tail end of Legion as a Disc priest and now I'm Feral so I like to think I'm pleasantly indecisive.

I've got a Guardian offspec I'm hoping to push Mythic+ keystones with if I can find likeminded folks as well. You probably don't want to PVP with me though, I eclipsed hitting 1800 in a BM/Ret comp in Wrath.

What is your Weakness?

I definitely struggle to retain information I learned in an encounter video, it usually takes me a few pulls to get comfortable with mechanics. Generally I level out after that, but I have hugged more than my share of mechanics through an unfortunate combination of bad memory and innate curiosity - "I wonder what happens if I try to dodge between the beams -- oh"

I'm also mightily struggling to make Feral pump out vaguely respectable AOE, I need to do some sims and see if I'm better off carrying around glyphs to swap in brutal slash or just going balance for trash or what.

What was your favorite gaming moment?

I worked on a mod for the 2001 classic Deus Ex for several years, which was a total blast and I'll never have enough time to that much unpaid work ever again in my life. I was working on an NPC roughly based on yours truly and decided to give him a tiny pet spider robot equipped with a flamethrower - as one does. Knocked it out, checked it in, forgot about it... then as we release someone links me a "Let's Play" video. Turns out I'd made its collision height low enough that wandering NPCs would think it was TOTALLY SAFE to path over the lil' spiderbot... which would then angrily light them on fire and start a tiny panic in that city block.

Come to think of it, I'm not sure I ever fixed that.

My UI could use a beautification pass, but it's largely pretty functional (and propped up with very large WeakAuras for things like interupts and soothes - I'm a huge WeakAuras fan). Here's a picture of the UI on a dummy.
